right to write!

Did you know that the first amendment of the United States Constitution not only guarantees its citizens the right to freedom of religion, expression, and speech, it also enshrines the fundamental right to peaceably assemble and petition our government for a redress of grievances? Put simply, this means that we possess the right to file complaints or seek the assistance of our government officials, without fear of punishment or retaliation. Not many of us practice this right as much as we should, and BGC is looking to change that.

Please join Brown Girl Club at Baileys Cafe on July 27th from 3-7pm for a letter-writing event to exercise this fundamental right that is so often overlooked.

We are also accepting letters in email form! If you cannot make the event or live out of the area but would like to make your voice be heard email them to us! You can either submit your petition below, email it to bgcbrooklyn@mail.com, or sign one of our template letters!
